Peril! returned to prime time recently with the premiere of Peril! Collegiate National Championshipand actress Maim Bialik branded again in game show icon Ken Jennings to take over the hosting functions. It seems that the Peril! the team wanted to have a little fun with this comeback, as one of the clues made a sneaky but excellent reference to Bialik former hit sitcom, The Big Bang Theory.

The time has come at the start of the second round of gameplay. The categories popped up on the screen, and one of them was a somewhat obscure reference to The Big Bang Theory. Check out the category below and continue for the explanation for anyone not in the know.

For anyone scratching their heads right now, “Fun With Flags” is a profound reference to Sheldonweb show in The Big Bang Theory. In the CBS comedy, Sheldon originally started Fun with flags as its own web series to teach vexillology, or the study of flags. In the end, Sheldon finally added Amy to the project, and the two hosted the series together. Amy was, of course, played by Mayim Bialik, who came full circle from the reference for Peril! Collegiate National Championship.

Unfortunately, unless the viewers are big fans of The Big Bang Theory, the moment probably went unnoticed. Mayim Bialik didn’t catch the benchmark when organizing the tournament or just wanted to maintain a professional attitude while Peril! fashion. It’s worth noting, however, that Bialik was a bit eccentric throughout the night and even briefly sang DJ Snake and Lil Jon’s hit song “Turn Down For What” during the episode.

the Peril! Collegiate National Championship was not devoid of silliness and fun, so I wonder why more hasn’t been done to reference the category from The Big Bang Theory. For example, what if the whole category featured Jim Parsons as a character asking about the different flags of the world? It would be a great prime time (though not particularly likely) and a perfect opportunity to generate some positive buzz for Mayim Bialik’s time on the show. Who wouldn’t want to see a clip of that between questions?

Mayim Bialik is currently sharing Peril! hosting duties with Ken Jennings, and it’s unclear at this time if she’ll get the permanent hosting gig. Although Bialik had a positive reception at first and seems happy to do sothere were those with the show who expressed concern about her double TV filming schedule to call me katand alleged past rumors she is hard to work. Time will tell if it will eventually take over for good, and if further references from The Big Bang Theory are on their way.
