Complexity stuns Astralis in ESL Pro League Season 16
Reversal of complexity swept Astralis 2-1 today in the Group C first round of Season 16 of the ESL Pro League, picking up one of the organization’s biggest wins with their team north- American. CS: GO listing.
Complexity’s collective effort and composure was what helped them defeat Astralis. They trailed 0-1 in the series after losing Inferno 16-9 and had to work hard to even the series on Nuke after the third overtime (25-23). The series headed to the decider, Dust II, and Complexity posted a dominating 9-3 run as the CTs closed out the game 16-11.
Those who missed this series will find it odd that Astralis didn’t win. The Danish team had Benjamin “blameF” Bremer shining with 80 kills and just 58 kills, while Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander, Asger “Farlig” Jensen and Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke also had positive K/D ratios. Complexity, on the other hand, only caused Michael “Grim” Wince to finish with a positive K/D, while everyone else didn’t get much frag.
This loss against Complexity already leaves Astralis in a difficult position in Group C, which also contains top teams such as MOUZ, Heroic and ENCE. Only three of the six teams in the group will make the playoffs, so Astralis will likely need to knock out at least one of MOUZ, Heroic, and ENCE to have a chance of qualifying.
When it comes to Complexity, even though Astralis isn’t at their peak these days, this is by far their best result in 2022. Until today, Complexity hadn’t defeated a European team since the organization acquired this North American roster to compete in 2022.
Matchday 1 of Group C of EPL Season 16 will conclude with ENCE vs. HEET at 1:30 p.m. CT.
